IN WHAT WAY HAVE YOU GIVEN BACK TO YOUR COMMUNITY? REALTOR® MAGAZINES ESSAY QUESTION 7 OF 11

By: Santino Filipelli

One way I’ve given back is my work as a volunteer firefighter. I’m certified as an EMT, and I volunteered for TIP (the Trauma Intervention Program), an organization of volunteers trained to help people navigate traumatic situations. I worked at Adventist Hospital for two years in cardiology and in the emergency room.

Although our brokerage is fairly new, we’ve taken initiative to give back to our community and to help those in need across the world. This winter, Modern Realty started a blanket and coat drive.

Another way that we’ve given back to our community is our partnership with a non-profit organization called New Story. New Story builds homes for those in need across the world. We have incorporated this project into our business model by having 10% of our admin fee on every transaction goes to New Story so our clients can join in as well. We have committed to building at least one home a year ($6,500).

On a more personal level, my wife and I are very involved in our church. We volunteer with our church at the local food bank. I worked as a Jr. High Youth Pastor, and I currently help with the 1st to 3rd grade. As a church, we give 10% of our finances to a non-profit organization called Hear the Cry. This organization exists to bring compassion and justice into areas of brokenness around the world.

To lead by example, Modern Realty has volunteered to be the top sponsor for our local PMAR YPN, pledging at least $3,500 - $5,000 over the next year.
